Kidney biopsy is the base point of the CLIgAN
study which, for the first time, takes into consideration the
histological picture observed in the renal biopsy before proceeding
with therapy in the two experimental arms. Instead, in the control
arm the therapy indicated by the KDIGO guidelines will be carried
out, regardless of the histological lesions observed in the kidney
biopsy.
Therefore, please identify within the team the colleague who will
follow the processing procedure of the kidney biopsy, because it is
necessary to ensure that the biopsy is processed following the
recommendations sent in the previous press release, i.e. that the
four colored slides have been prepared for the procedure by Peer
Review process.
Store the four specimen slides of the kidney biopsy, that were obtained
according to the procedures described in the previous note, in a
slide box. The study may also involve concerned pathologists.
Make sure that the date of the kidney biopsy, the patient code and the four types of stainings are reported on the four slides.
Store the slide box in your room.
After processing, the kidney biopsy embedded in paraffin must be kept in the freezer at + 4 ºC and possibly, immediately after cutting the sections, must not be exposed to light for a long time. This procedure reduces the RNA denaturation in the tissue and the biopsy can be used for further studies.
The kidney biopsy embeded in OCT after cutting the section for
immunofluorescenzt technique must be stored in freezer at - 80
ºC or in liquid Nitrogen.
